A sacred space for students to learn, practice and study yoga according to the teachings and philosophy of Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar.

Many of us grapple with the bigger questions in life like “Who am I?” and “Why am I here?”.  Practicing yoga can be a spiritual tool for each of us to penetrate the layers of our being to “know thyself”. Yoga is a tool to help us to remember who we are, to awaken that which is asleep and to bring light to the darkness. BKS-Iyengar-Yoga-Quote-Body-Bow-Asana-Arrow-Soul-TargetIyengar yoga first uses asanas or postures to create and maintain a healthy body as a fit vehicle for the spirit.  Asanas have a rich history and have evolved to exercise every muscle, nerve and gland in the body, and with practice will produce steadiness and strength of body as well as of mind.  More than just physical activity, asanas develop control over the mind, intellect and self.
Once a student has attained a certain level of asana, pranayama is taught.  Asanas prepare the body for pranayama.  Pranayama regulates the flow of prana throughout the body by using the breath: inhalation, exhalation and retention.  Although breathing is a necessity of life, how many of us breathe correctly and with attention?  Various pranayama techniques help us to maximize the efficiency of our respiratory systems in turn improving our circulatory systems to aid in the elimination of toxins and waste thereby reducing the risk of disease.  This purification process brings vitality to the body, mind and intellect. Pranayama is the bridge between the physical and the spiritual.
Online classes are offered for Level 1 , Level 2 and Level 3.  In Studio Class Mondays 8-9:30pm starting April 25, 2022.
